A Turner representative must meet with the emergency responders.
The senior Turner person or designee on site should determine if partial or full evacuation or if any work-stoppage is required.
Debrief personnel before they leave the site, particularly if a site shutdown is necessary.
- Offer grief and stress counseling, to staff, subcontractors, and family members
- Begin a thorough investigation using sketches, photos to document events, positioning of people and equipment
In the event of a severe injury or death, notification must be handled with tact and compassion. Coordinate communication with the family(s)
with Risk Management and the local Turner office.
-
If a Turner employee is involved:
- The Business Unit General Manager and Operations Manager must together notify the family
- If the employee lives out of town and in-person notification is not possible, consider involving local police or a religious leader to assist
-
If a subcontractor employee is involved:
- The subcontractor will notify the family. (This assumes that each subcontractor has its own program for notification by its management of next of kin and other necessary parties.)
